Lilly was doing fine in the beginning eating her chow, and now all of a sudden she doesn't want hers anymore she wants her older brothers! And it's getting to the point where she will wait for him to get done eating lick out the crumbs in his bowl then realize there is nothing and only take a bite out of her food. she nibbles here and there, but i don't think she eats enough. I would put her on the same food as zeke but she is still a pup. what should i do? with her being 8 months would it be bad to put her on the adult food with her brother? right now i put a little bit of his food mixed with her puppy chow so she has to go digging for it and it gets her to eat most of the food that's in the bowl...

do i wait for the year mark to put her on adult chow???

i don't know what the shelter fed her but she always wants people food even though she rarely gets a little treat...

I know a lot of pet people that give their pups adult dog food. Which I feed raw to my dogs. If you look at the ingredents between the two kibbles you have there. Are they the same?

i would advise to continue what your doin :) just keep mixing them together. for the forst week or so try to put more puppy chow then adult then you can make it about even :) i would say that it would be safe to give her only adult food either when she is 10 to 12 months or she is her ideal weight :D

hope this helped! good luck with Lilly!!

Now this is just my opinion, but I only feed puppy food in the very early stages. I don't know what size dog you have but for the larger breeds I believe it is healthier to feed adult food because they don't grow as fast. This is important for their joints and hips. But I would mix the adult food with the puppy food and switch her over gradually. And whatever you do, feed a high quality food, such as Canidae, Flint River, Timberwolf, ProPlan. Stay away from foods like Purina Dog Chow, Old Roy etc. On my avatar is my young male and he has eaten ProPlan adult since he was 10 weeks old.

You should be alright to switch her to adult food. We moved both of our pups to adult food when they were somewhere around 6-8 months or so. Both Buck and Rusty eat the same food, and yet Rusty thinks that Buck's is better than his is. She will eat when she gets hungry. One thing we found that helps with Rusty is putting the food down for awhile, and if he doesn't eat it then pick it up. This way the pup learns that if they don't eat the food when it is given to them, they won't have it for awhile and will learn to eat it when given to them.
