hi all, sorry i haven't written for ages, we got our dog and i haven't had much time to go on the forum.
ive heard that you have to strip border terriers, thats going to be a bit of a struggle with our Poppet!
People who have had to strip thier dogs, could you please tell me if its really as hard as it sounds?
thanks

Hi, I groomed for over 20 years. I was mentored in stripping coats by a woman who bred and showed Scotties and Sealyhams. As far as coat goes, Border Terriers are easy. Lighter coat than some of the other breeds that are stripped. You want to start out slowly. Just do a little at a time. It is best to be taught by someone. It doesn't have to be someone with the same breed. I had a Cairn at the time. It is not a difficult process but there are things I feel can't be taught by a book. See if you can locate someone locally who shows a breed with a coat that requires stripping. What about your dog's breeder?

Clipping will soften your terriers coat.If you want to keep it nice and course you need to strip.
