Beware of fancy marketing techniques circulating the web for the ultimate training methods. There is no magical method, no secret technique that hasn't been tried and put to the test which isn't in print or on video already. These marketing techniques try to make you believe the author of an e book has the inside scoop on some secret method known only to the pros (what pros I'm not sure of). I read an article on one forum where the author claimed he didn't need to use the reference from the school he went to yet when you put his name in a search engine it came back with him and his claims of attending a particular school. He also claimed to have worked at this big kennel, well guess what it, it was the name of the kennel the school used and was part of the program requirements to work there. The point I'm trying to make is don't be fooled into thinking there is some magical system that no one knows about and is now being brought to light.

ARGGH! These things drive me crazy! I see them all the time on craigslist. If their method was that special, they'd have their own TV show, or be published by now. Not to mention if that guy went to a school to learn to train dogs, it's not his method, so it's no secret!

When you stop and think about it, there really aren't that many "methods" to train dogs in the first place. There really isn't anything "new" and revolutionary since Pavlov first rang his bell. It all boils down to basics, show the dog what you want, praise good behavior and correct bad behavior.

The other main thing in training is CONSISTENCY.
